Central Alternative
|

Central Alternative is an alternative learning environment that addresses the needs of students who are at risk. Central caters to students who are two or more grade levels behind; students who have great difficulty adjusting to behavior guidelines; and students who are most likely to become a part of the drop out rate. At Central Alternative we help students with social skills, including self-awareness, self-confidence, responsible behavior, interpersonal relations, goal setting, problem solving, and anger management. We help students set positive and attainable goals. We believe all persons can be productive and we aim to foster this change in our students.

The faculty and staff of Central Alternative School wishes to extend to everyone a most hearty welcome. We here at CAS believe in teamwork and cooperation to achieve the best results for the students we serve. We encourage new and innovative ideas to tap into our students’ limitless potential. In addition to the four major disciples we offer Learning Strategies, Physical/Health Education and Computer Literacy. Our students also benefit from Kids College, Renaissance Learning, and the Fast Forward Program. Central also offers the GED Option Program and Credit Recovery, a program designed to enable students who are two or more grade levels behind to matriculate at an accelerated pace in order to be placed at their appropriate level. CAS works in concert with our Partners In Education and city entities such as the Adolescents Offenders Program to aid students both academically and socially. We welcome any assistance that is devised to help build a bridge from the home school, for without parental support our vision can never be realized. It is our firm conviction that education must be both social and academic, encompassing the whole student, and with community support this goal can be achieved. We invite everyone to visit us and see our progressive ideas in action.
